This breed has a very peculiar appearance. They are compact dogs of medium size. Their coat is harsh and loose, making them look so different from other dogs. These dogs also have a “hippopotamus like muzzle,” a high set tail, and very small ears. Chinese Shar Pei dogs are no longer breedable if obtained through a rescue for this breed of dogs.
